Beeswax, Soya, Paraffin, or Bayberry We don't often think about what's actually in that candle we're burning, and what's making it smell so wonderful. Sounds strange but oddly enough, paraffin wax is becoming, to some extent, the modern day culprit of soot in people's homes. Paraffin is a derivative of petroleum. Of course paraffin is usually the most economical choice, but when making your statement, think about what you're buying.

Beeswax is the only type of wax that actually purifies the air while it burns, and it's naturally aromatic so it's unlikely that you'll find a scented beeswax candle. Soya wax also claims to burn clean and leave little to no pollutants.

Bayberry wax comes from the bayberry shrub and doesn't need synthetic fragrances.

The Truth About Vaseline

The truth is- stay away! Just because it's so readily available doesn't mean it's something you should ever be using- for anything- especially on babies and children.

Basically the stuff is made from petrolatum and mineral oil- yuck! I'm amazed that this day in age western medical doctors still prescribe it for various skin ailments including dry and cracked skin. If they knew better, they wouldn't!

Never mind the fact that it clogs your pores and prevents your skin from breathing and taking in oxygen, its chalk full of harmful chemicals including carcinogens which can lead to cancer.

So use the alternatives! Almond oil, vitamin E oil, olive oil, beeswax blends, or heck just use our healing balms or baby balms which are all natural and actually benefit the skin while aiding in the healing of dry skin, burns, rash, and other skin conditions.
